{"id":1547,"date":"2009-04-21T05:35:57","date_gmt":"2009-04-21T10:35:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/utnews.utoledo.edu\/?p=1547"},"modified":"2009-04-21T07:33:39","modified_gmt":"2009-04-21T12:33:39","slug":"aramark-higher-education-raises-green-stakes-at-ut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/04_21_2009\/aramark-higher-education-raises-green-stakes-at-ut","title":{"rendered":"Aramark Higher Education raises &#8216;green stakes&#8217; at UT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To celebrate Earth Day, Aramark Higher Education, the dining services partner at The University of Toledo, has committed to implement \u201cgreen stakes,\u201d five key sustainable practices across all of its operations by 2010.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/webgreen-thread-tm-lowres-cmyk.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1566\" title=\"Aramark_Greenthread_cmyk\" src=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/webgreen-thread-tm-lowres-cmyk.jpg\" alt=\"Aramark_Greenthread_cmyk\" width=\"314\" height=\"189\" \/><\/a>As part of \u201cgreen stakes,\u201d Aramark Higher Education will strive to implement the following sustainable and environmental practices by 2010:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Implement an energy and water conservation program at every partner campus;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Purchase only paper products made with recycled content;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Utilize daily green cleaning products at all locations;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Divert 100 percent of fryer oil waste; and<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Increase the level of sustainable food offerings served by at least 5 percent per year.<\/p>\n<p>Aramark Higher Education also has partnered with Clean Air-Cool Planet, an independent, nonprofit organization, to create a calculator tool that more accurately assesses the carbon footprint or \u201cfoodprint\u201d of foods served on campus by quantifying the environmental impact of growing, producing, transporting and disposing of food.
