UT Medical Center is inviting the public to take tours of its facilities as part of the hospital\u2019s outreach to the community and employers in the Toledo area.<\/p>\n

UT Medical Center<\/p><\/div>\u201cThe University of Toledo Medical Center has transformed itself from being the typical hospital into a healing and wellness center,\u201d said Ioan Duca, service excellence officer for the University. \u201cWe want the community to come and experience the remarkable transformation that has taken place.\u201d<\/P><\/p>\n

UTMC has made a number of recent updates to its facilities; these include the Outpatient Rehabilitation Services area, an in-patient orthopedics wing and the Kobacker Center, as well as the remodeling the gift shop and the opening of the Four Seasons Bistro.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have changed and transformed tremendously,\u201d said Amy Finkbeiner, manager of customer service. \u201cOur job is to reacclimate people who have not been here in a while and educate those who have never visited UTMC.<\/p>\n

\u201cTaking a tour before an appointment or being admitted may help patients familiarize themselves and their families with our hospital,\u201d Finkbeiner said.<\/p>\n

UTMC also has expanded its ambassador program to create a more comfortable experience. Lynette Hearst, support service specialist, has assembled a group of volunteers who assist patients and their families. This is in addition to the ambassadors who have staffed the Welcome Center for the last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ambassadors will be at the main entries to greet, engage and escort patients to their destinations,\u201d Hearst said. \u201cThe greeting of a warm smile and offer of assistance may ease the apprehension of patients as they enter.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 60-minute tours will be conducted every Tuesday, and each will be limited to 10 people. <\/p>\n
