An open house at the UT Early Learning Center will take place Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re opening our doors so our employees can see for themselves what a high caliber program we offer,\u201d said Caryn Salts, director of the center. \u201cWe offer quality education, experienced staff and a great location near Health Science Campus.\u201d<\/p>\n
The UT Early Learning Center is located at 1932 Birchwood Ave. and offers programs for children between the ages of 18 months and 5 years. An adventure program for school-aged children also is offered during the summer months.<\/p>\n
The center has been in operation for more than 50 years and is accredited by \u2028the National Association for the Education of Young Children. This is a rigorous voluntary process by which early childhood programs demonstrate that they meet national standards of excellence. The center is one of seven child-care facilities in Toledo to achieve the accreditation, according to Salts.<\/p>\n
\u201cMembers of our professional teaching staff hold associate\u2019s and bachelor\u2019s degrees and are trained in early childhood education,\u201d she said. \u201cSome of our teachers been here for more than 20 years, which adds consistency for the children.\u201d<\/p>\n
During the open house, visitors will have access to the center\u2019s double-sized classrooms, full-sized gym and outdoor playgrounds. Staff also will be on hand to conduct tours and answer questions. <\/p>\n
