<\/a>Head Women\u2019s Golf Coach Nicole Hollingsworth posed for a photo with Sathika Ruenreong, right, who was named MAC Freshman of Year and first-team All-MAC, and Kate Hoops, who earned second-team All-MAC honors.<\/p><\/div>Ruenreong, the first UT women\u2019s golfer to be the conference\u2019s top freshman, finished as runner-up in the individual standings at nine-over par 225 (77-75-73) and tied for the best round Sunday with her one-over par 73.<\/P><\/p>\n
Toledo tied Eastern Michigan for second place at 73-over par 937, 28 strokes behind Kent State, which captured the conference title for the 15th straight year. It matched the Rockets\u2019 best finish ever at the MAC Championship as well as UT\u2019s third top three MAC showing in the last four years<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m extremely proud of the way we competed, especially with the amount of rain that fell,\u201d Head Coach Nicole Hollingsworth said. \u201cWe didn\u2019t play up to our potential in the first two rounds, but we finished our season strong and ended up tying for second place. This been a tremendous season, and I can\u2019t wait to see what the future holds for our program.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ruenreong, who helped the Rockets match the Golden Flashes with the best team score of the day at 20-over par 308, also became the first UT women\u2019s golfer to earn first-team All-MAC accolades since 2006 and earned a spot on the all-tournament team. <\/p>\n
Joining Ruenreong on the All-MAC squad was junior Kate Hoops, who tied for 18th place at 23-over par 239 (82-78-79).<\/p>\n
\u201cSathika and Kate both are very deserving of All-MAC honors,\u201d Hollingsworth said. \u201cSathika started the fall a little slow but once she became adjusted to college golf, she never looked back and had a great year. Kate possesses a lot of talent, and things are really starting to click for her after a lot of hard work.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sophomore Jennifer Elsholz posted Toledo\u2019s second-best showing by finishing alone in 14th place at 20-over par 236 (79-80-77). <\/p>\n
Rounding out the Rocket lineup were freshman Manisa Isavas (tied for 22nd with78-84-79=241) and senior Allison Schultz (37th with 78-84-87=249).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
