<\/a>Molls<\/p><\/div>Former Rocket linebacker Dan Molls has agreed to terms with the San Diego Chargers, while three UT players have been invited to NFL mini-camps.<\/P><\/p>\n
Molls, from North Royalton, Ohio, led the nation with 166 tackles as a senior. He earned first-team All-Mid-American Conference honors and was named first-team Academic All-America.<\/p>\n
“I’m extremely excited to be going to San Diego,” Molls said. “The coaches gave me a great feeling. They run a 3-4 scheme, which is a good fit for me. It’s a great organization and a great city. I’m really looking forward to this opportunity.”<\/p>\n
T.J. Fatinikun, from Perrysburg, Ohio, has been invited to the Kansas City Chief’s mini-camp. He earned third-team All-MAC honors in 2010 and 2011, but saw both his junior and senior seasons cut short due to injuries. He said he looks upon his tryout with the Chiefs as a new lease on his football life.<\/p>\n
“I have a lot to prove. I have a chip on my shoulder and I’m ready to go,” said Fatinikun, who will report to mini-camp Thursday May 9. “I’m so happy that Kansas City is giving me this opportunity. All I want is a chance to come out and compete. I’m excited and ready to get to work.”<\/p>\n
Molls and Fatinikun are two of a number of Rocket seniors who are hoping to make it in the NFL. <\/p>\n
Safety Jermaine Robinson will report to the New Orleans Saints’ mini-camp Friday through Sunday, May 3-5, while defensive lineman Danny Farr will try out for the San Francisco 49ers at the team\u2019s rookie camp Friday through Sunday, May 10-12.<\/p>\n
Robinson, a 6-3, 188-pound native of Pittsburgh, was a four-year starter for the Rockets at safety, earning first-team All-Mid-American Conference honors as a senior. <\/p>\n
He had 229 tackles and eight interceptions in his career. He was co-leader in the MAC with four picks in 2012. If Robinson makes the Saints, he would join former Rocket wide receiver Lance Moore in New Orleans.<\/p>\n
Farr, a 6-5, 295-pound defensive tackle from Evanston, Ill., was a starter as senior before a mid-season injured ended his playing. He had 18 tackles and three tackles for loss in six games.<\/p>\n
“I’m blessed to have this opportunity,” Farr said. “All I’ve ever wanted is a chance to prove myself at the next level, and now I have that chance.”<\/p>\n
Wide receiver Eric Page, who left UT following his junior season in 2011, signed with Tampa Bay last month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
