{"id":27260,"date":"2013-10-23T04:21:12","date_gmt":"2013-10-23T09:21:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/utnews.utoledo.edu\/?p=27260"},"modified":"2013-10-22T14:26:57","modified_gmt":"2013-10-22T19:26:57","slug":"mens-basketball-team-no-23-in-collegeinsider-com-mid-major-preseason-poll","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/10_23_2013\/mens-basketball-team-no-23-in-collegeinsider-com-mid-major-preseason-poll","title":{"rendered":"Men&#8217;s basketball team No. 23 in CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major preseason poll"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Toledo men\u2019s basketball program is ranked No. 23 in the <a href=\"http:\/\/collegeinsider.com\/\">CollegeInsider.com<\/a> Mid-Major Top-25 preseason poll.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/men-b-ball-team.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/men-b-ball-team.jpg\" alt=\"men b-ball team\" width=\"540\" height=\"305\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-27261\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/men-b-ball-team.jpg 540w, https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/men-b-ball-team-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a>The Rockets received 166 points and are one of four Mid-American Conference schools to receive votes with Akron ranked No. 10 and Ohio and Kent State receiving votes.<\/P><\/p>\n<p><P>In addition to the Rockets\u2019 three MAC opponents, five non-conference opponents appeared in the preseason poll: Stony Brook (101 votes), Cleveland State (75 votes), Robert Morris (67 votes), Detroit (20 votes) and Arkansas State (eight votes).<\/p>\n<p>UT returns four starters from last year\u2019s 15-13 squad that tied Western Michigan for first place in the MAC West Division. A pair of all-conference guards, senior Rian Pearson (17.9 points per game, 6.8 rebounds per game) and junior Julius Brown (13.1 points per game, 6.0 assists per game), are back to team with 2012-13 All-MAC Freshman Team center Nathan Boothe (8.3 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per game), senior forward Matt Smith (9.8 points per game, 3.6 rebounds per game) and sophomore guard Josh Lemons.<\/p>\n<p>The Rockets also are gaining the services of a pair of junior transfers, guard Justin Drummond and forward J.D.
