Norton, consul general of Canada in Detroit, will speak on \u201c237 Years of Canada-U.S. Relations in an Hour\u201d Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 11 a.m. in Snyder Memorial Building Room 2110.<\/p>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_20760\" style=\"width: 140px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Norton.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20760\" src=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Norton.jpg\" alt=\"Norton\" width=\"130\" height=\"182\" class=\"size-full wp-image-20760\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-20760\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Norton<\/p><\/div>As the consul general of Canada based in Detroit, Norton represents the country in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. He heads the Canadian Consulate General, which promotes Canadian interests \u2014 trade, investment, the environment, and cultural and academic relations.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to two different postings at the Canadian Embassy in Washington, Norton has worked for the Government of Ontario and the Canadian Parliament, and as a consultant to both government and business interests.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Ottawa, Norton graduated from Carleton University with a master of arts degree in Canadian history. He also holds masters degrees from Harvard University&#8217;s Kennedy School of Government and Johns Hopkins University&#8217;s School of Advanced International Studies, as well as a PhD in international relations from Johns Hopkins.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on the free, public talk, contact Dr. R.
