{"id":31376,"date":"2014-10-15T03:41:00","date_gmt":"2014-10-15T07:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/utnews.utoledo.edu\/?p=31376"},"modified":"2014-10-14T14:09:40","modified_gmt":"2014-10-14T18:09:40","slug":"international-director-of-photography-to-visit-university","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/10_15_2014\/international-director-of-photography-to-visit-university","title":{"rendered":"International director of photography to visit University"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Simon Huber will be at UT Monday and Wednesday, Oct. 20 and 22, to teach master class workshops in motion picture photography, give student critiques, and publicly screen his work.<\/p>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_31415\" style=\"width: 334px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Huber-HeadShot.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-31415\" src=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Huber-HeadShot.jpeg\" alt=\"Huber\" width=\"324\" height=\"335\" class=\"size-full wp-image-31415\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Huber-HeadShot.jpeg 324w, https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Huber-HeadShot-290x300.jpeg 290w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 324px) 100vw, 324px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-31415\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Huber<\/p><\/div>Huber, a Swiss-based director of photography for advertising, feature films and social documentaries, works globally in some of the world\u2019s most scenic and fascinating places: Cameroon, Central African Republic, Nepal, Egypt, Vietnam, Europe, Russia the United States. <\/p>\n<p>He makes social documentaries for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fairmed.ch\/en\/fairmed\/\">FAIRMED<\/a>, a Swiss organization that works to eradicate poverty-related diseases in the Central African Republic. <\/p>\n<p>His professional experience shooting commercials for international brands includes Samsung, Danone, Coca-Cola, Polkomtel, Jack Wolfskin and Emmentaler, has positioned Huber among leading European commercial cinematographers. <\/p>\n<p>In addition to commercial work, Huber has been a director of photography on several short and feature films. Recently, he shot the mountain scenes for the 2013 Bollywood blockbuster science fiction film \u201cKrrish3\u201d directed by Rakesh Roshan and starring Indian heartthrobs Rakesh and Hrithik Roshan. <\/p>\n<p>Huber\u2019s latest feature film, \u201cL\u00e4sst die Alten Sterben\u201d directed by Juri Steinhart, will be released in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2012, Huber has been a board member of the Swiss film-political association Bern for the Film, and he is a member of Syndicat Suisse Film et Video, an association that represents technicians, designers and actors in the Swiss film industry. <\/p>\n<p>As a director of photography, he serves as a guest lecturer at universities in Switzerland and in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Huber will work with Holly Hey, associate professor and associate chair in the UT Department of Theatre and Film, to teach advanced techniques in exterior night shooting, camera blocking, and the logistical practices of a director of photography. <\/p>\n<p>All lectures and demonstrations are open to interested UT students.
