{"id":34593,"date":"2015-06-15T11:28:29","date_gmt":"2015-06-15T15:28:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/utnews.utoledo.edu\/?p=34593"},"modified":"2015-06-15T14:24:48","modified_gmt":"2015-06-15T18:24:48","slug":"contract-with-new-president-finalized","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/06_15_2015\/contract-with-new-president-finalized","title":{"rendered":"Contract with new president finalized"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Toledo Board of Trustees announced today a five-year contract with incoming president Dr. Sharon Gaber, a final step as she prepares to take the reins of the University July 1.<\/p>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_33297\" style=\"width: 260px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Gaber.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33297\" src=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Gaber.jpg\" alt=\"Gaber\" width=\"250\" height=\"375\" class=\"size-full wp-image-33297\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Gaber.jpg 250w, https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Gaber-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-33297\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gaber<\/p><\/div>\u201cWhen we began the search for a president, the Board of Trustees spoke about its desire and this community\u2019s need for a transformational leader at The University of Toledo,\u201d said Joseph Zerbey, chair of UT\u2019s Board of Trustees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLeaders with the ability to unite organizations the size of this university, create a single vision and pull toward the same goal are rare,\u201d Zerbey said. \u201cAnd we\u2019re so fortunate to have such a person in Sharon Gaber.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>In addition to its core missions of education, patient care, and research and scholarship, UT is a community leader deeply engaged with businesses and nonprofit organizations to lift this region\u2019s stature and advance this community through economic development, Zerbey said,<\/p>\n<p>Gaber, who has spent several days every few weeks at UT since being named president-designate in March, said she has been mapping out her first months in office and believes the transition will be very smooth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to hit the ground running,\u201d Gaber said. \u201cInterim President Nagi Naganathan has done great work this year ensuring UT continues to move forward, and it has positioned me and the University very well for what lies ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gaber has identified the recruitment of outstanding and highly talented students, faculty and staff among her top priorities.
