{"id":38110,"date":"2016-02-19T03:08:29","date_gmt":"2016-02-19T07:08:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/utnews.utoledo.edu\/?p=38110"},"modified":"2016-02-19T09:52:47","modified_gmt":"2016-02-19T13:52:47","slug":"new-library-search-feature-to-improve-research-efficiency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/02_19_2016\/new-library-search-feature-to-improve-research-efficiency","title":{"rendered":"New library search feature to improve research efficiency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Finding books, articles and other resources through The University of Toledo library website became even easier this month thanks to a new catalog search option. <\/p>\n<p>The new search feature is based on EBSCOhost, a popular online database that allows users to sift through thousands of scholarly journals and articles, magazines, e-books and more. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/02_19_2016\/new-library-search-feature-to-improve-research-efficiency\/search-box\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-38245\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/search-box.jpg\" alt=\"search box\" width=\"540\" height=\"298\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-38245\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/search-box.jpg 540w, https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/search-box-300x166.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a>The former process to look through the library\u2019s resources and a number of databases that UT subscribes to required multiple different searches. The new search interface simplifies that process by combining nearly all of the available resources into one search.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will be much more efficient for people researching our collections because they won\u2019t necessarily need to look elsewhere,\u201d said Chris Rigda, coordinator of library systems.\t<\/p>\n<p>Search results in the new discovery layer will include both the library\u2019s electronic resources and its print resources and their availability, all of the EBSCO databases the University subscribes to, and other e-resources such as the Electronic Journal Center and the Web of Science.
