{"id":38217,"date":"2016-02-23T03:09:58","date_gmt":"2016-02-23T07:09:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/utnews.utoledo.edu\/?p=38217"},"modified":"2016-03-03T12:49:20","modified_gmt":"2016-03-03T16:49:20","slug":"nominations-sought-for-outstanding-faculty-research-and-scholarship-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/02_23_2016\/nominations-sought-for-outstanding-faculty-research-and-scholarship-award","title":{"rendered":"Nominations sought for Outstanding Faculty Research and Scholarship Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Toledo is seeking nominations for the Outstanding Faculty Research and Scholarship Award until Tuesday, March 1, at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1985, this award has recognized full-time faculty members who have contributed to the University through outstanding research, scholarship and creative activity in any of the academic disciplines. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/02_15_2016\/forums-continue-this-week-for-provost-candidates\/business-hlogo-1c-black-2\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-38156\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/UT-logo-web.jpg\" alt=\"Business Hlogo 1c Black\" width=\"360\" height=\"372\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-38156\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/UT-logo-web.jpg 360w, https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/UT-logo-web-290x300.jpg 290w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/a>\u201cDeveloping and sustaining a vigorous research program requires dedication and focus, and the Outstanding Faculty Research and Scholarship Award offers an opportunity to recognize the truly noteworthy contributions of UT faculty,\u201d said Vice President for Research William Messer.<\/p>\n<p>Any full-time faculty member who made valuable contributions during his or her time at the University and has not received the award in the past is eligible. Both self-nominations and peer-nominations are being accepted.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations must include: <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The nature and significance of the research, scholarship or creative activity upon which the nomination is based;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The impact of the research, scholarship or creative activity on the nominee\u2019s area of specialization;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 How the research, scholarship or creative activity was presented and disseminated to the nominee\u2019s peers and to the wider professional community;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Awards, honors or other recognition of the significance of the research, scholarship or creative activity;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Support received for the nominee\u2019s activities; and<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 A complete curriculum vitae and signed and dated letters of recommendation (reprints, books and posters will not be accepted).<\/p>\n<p>The Outstanding Research and Scholarship Selection Committee, which consists of past winners of this award, will review all materials. Messer will present the committee\u2019s recommendations to the provost.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am proud of the high-quality research and scholarship of UT faculty who have established themselves as leaders in their areas of expertise.
