{"id":39441,"date":"2016-04-26T03:55:19","date_gmt":"2016-04-26T07:55:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/utnews.utoledo.edu\/?p=39441"},"modified":"2016-04-25T12:03:06","modified_gmt":"2016-04-25T16:03:06","slug":"wearable-conditions-event-scheduled-for-april-28","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/04_26_2016\/wearable-conditions-event-scheduled-for-april-28","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Wearable Conditions&#8217; event scheduled for April 28"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There will be fashionable art and more at the \u201cWearable Conditions\u201d exhibition\u00a0Thursday, April 28, at 7 p.m. at the Toledo Museum of Art Glass Pavilion. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The event will include lectures by Dr. Brian Kennedy, president, director an CEO of the Toledo Museum of Art, and Brian Carpenter, UT gallery director and lecturer in the Art Department. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/?attachment_id=39442\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-39442\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/ChickenPox_1.jpg\" alt=\"Template\" width=\"304\" height=\"540\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-39442\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/ChickenPox_1.jpg 304w, https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/ChickenPox_1-169x300.jpg 169w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 304px) 100vw, 304px\" \/><\/a>And there will be an original soundtrack featuring music played and created by Marc Folk, executive director of the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ten student wearable works of art will be exhibited in a fashion show.<\/p>\n<p>The concept of wearable art was developed last year, according to Carpenter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStudents select and research a disease, virus or disorder, and then conceptualize and create a wearable work of art inspired by it,\u201d he said. \u201cThis allows for individual student works to join together and present as a cohesive body of work and ultimately a performance.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe act of conceptualizing an internal virus, disease or disorder by externalizing that focus into new forms reinforces student recognition of fundamental art-making processes.
