The Lake Erie Center is accepting submissions for its seventh annual photo contest, \u201cThe Nature of Our Region: From Oak Openings to Maumee Bay,\u201d through Friday, Oct. 21.<\/p>\n

Photographers are encouraged to take shots of their favorite nature topics anywhere in the Toledo area. Both color and black-and-white photos will be accepted. All photographers are allowed up to three submissions.<\/p>\n

\"Gary<\/a>

Gary Bending won first place in the adult category with this shot last year.<\/p><\/div>\u201cWhat better way to showcase the amazing wonderment of nature that surrounds us,\u201d Kathy Sullivan, communication and technology specialist at the Lake Erie Center, said of the contest. \u201cThe Toledo area is part of the world\u2019s largest freshwater ecosystem rich with diversity.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Quentin<\/a>

Quentin Francis-Emonds took top honors in the teen category in 2015.<\/p><\/div>Entries will be divided into the following age groups:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Junior youth (6 years and younger);<\/p>\n

\u2022 Youth (7 to 12 years of age); <\/p>\n

\u2022 Teens (13 to 18 years of age);<\/p>\n

\u2022 Adults; and<\/p>\n

\u2022 Special needs adults.<\/p>\n

\"Dakota<\/a>

Dakota Crick placed first in the youth category in 2015.<\/p><\/div>Entries can be submitted in jpeg, tiff or png format on the Lake Erie Center website here<\/a> or sent to lakeeriecenter@utoledo.edu with the following information:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Full name;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Age and age category;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Email address;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Phone number;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Number of photos submitted;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Photograph locations; and<\/p>\n

\u2022 Additional information about the photos the judges should know.<\/p>\n

Contest rules can be found here<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Sullivan said people should enter the contest so they can share their unique view of nature.<\/p>\n

\"Shanna<\/a>

Shanna Richie\u2019s \u201cSylvania Rain\u201d won first place in the adult special needs category last year.<\/p><\/div>\u201cWhat I like the most about the photo contest is that it provides a forum where individuals can share their love of nature in an expressive way,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The first-place winner in every age group will win a $25 prize.<\/p>\n
