The center supports UT students and the local community, along with 24 businesses owned and operated by minorities. It also helps provide training, mentoring, office space and strategic development.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/10_10_2016\/event-to-raise-funds-to-help-small-businesses\/evening-of-chance\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-41703\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/evening-of-chance.jpg\" alt=\"evening of chance\" width=\"396\" height=\"594\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-41703\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/evening-of-chance.jpg 396w, https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/evening-of-chance-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 396px) 100vw, 396px\" \/><\/a>\u201cOur students benefit from the center by receiving a great hands-on experience that prepares them for the real world,\u201d said Dr. Shanda Gore, associate vice president of the Minority Business Development Center and the Catharine S. Eberly Center for Women. \u201cWe achieve 100 percent placement of all students who have interned or had assistantships with us and our businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The evening will feature a photo booth, a Monte Carlo theme and magician. Guests can bid on items in the silent auction and partake of food and drink.<\/p>\n<p>The event will conclude with an award ceremony for local minority business owners and highlight the various sponsors, including the Toledo Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis event not only allows us to support our businesses and students, but it\u2019s also an opportunity for the community to learn about how we play a part in the greater economic development of the region,\u201d Gore said. \u201cWe\u2019re not just supporting small, minority-owned businesses \u2014 we\u2019re causing a larger ripple effect that impacts generations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To purchase tickets, which are $50, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/utoledo.edu\/incubator\/mbdc\/EOC.html\">utoledo.edu\/incubator\/mbdc\/EOC.html<\/a>.
