The University of Toledo Medical Center is again verified as a Level I Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma confirming UTMC\u2019s continued commitment to providing the highest quality trauma care for seriously injured patients.<\/p>\n

UT Medical Center<\/p><\/div>The top designation available, Level I Trauma Centers provide the highest level of surgical care with a wide range of team experts and specialized equipment to care for the most severely injured patients.<\/p>\n

\u201cUTMC has been a leader in trauma care in our region for two decades and consistently excels in the Level I trauma surveys through the American College of Surgery,\u201d said Dan Barbee, interim chief executive officer of UTMC. \u201cWe are proud to provide patients with the best possible care in their most critical time of need, and I extend my gratitude to the trauma team for their continued commitment to excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Verified trauma centers must meet the essential criteria that ensure trauma care capability and performance as outlined by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma in its\u00a0Resources for Optimal Care for the Injured Patient manual.<\/p>\n

The verification follows an on-site peer review and rigorous multidisciplinary assessment by trauma care experts regarding UTMC\u2019s commitment, readiness, resources, policies, patient care and performance improvement to care for trauma patients. <\/p>\n

The verification recognizes UTMC as a Level I Trauma Center through Aug. 30, 2019.<\/p>\n

Established by the American College of Surgeons in 1987, the Committee on Trauma\u2019s Consultation\/Verification Program for Hospitals promotes the development of trauma centers in which participants provide not only the hospital resources necessary for trauma care, but also the entire spectrum of care to address the needs of all injured patients. This spectrum encompasses the pre-hospital phase through the rehabilitation process.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
