I love when the new pieces arrive,\u201d said Dr. Steve LeBlanc, interim dean of the College of Engineering and chair of the Campus Beautification Committee. \u201cThey certainly add to the beauty of of the campus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Three of the new works are by Mike Sohikian: \u201cMale Flamenco\u201d steps it up near the sidewalk on the north side of University and Gillham halls; \u201cFigure With Large Bowl\u201d walks on the east side of the Health and Human Services Building; and \u201cThe Veteran\u201d stands resolutely on the west side of the Health Education Building on Main Campus.<\/p>\n<p>Sohikian, a retired ironworker, has a reputation for creating beauty from scraps of steel. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a lifetime of love and appreciation for art, but I didn\u2019t begin my art career until 1995,\u201d the Genoa, Ohio, resident said. \u201cI assemble industrial materials and rework them into fascinating forms.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_45066\" style=\"width: 550px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/05_18_2017\/vibrant-works-update-outdoor-sculpture-exhibition\/cedar-variations-ii-by-rachel\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-45066\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-45066\" src=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Cedar-Variations-II-by-Rachel.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"360\" class=\"size-full wp-image-45066\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Cedar-Variations-II-by-Rachel.jpg 540w, https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Cedar-Variations-II-by-Rachel-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-45066\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sam Soet\u2019s \u201cCedar Walker Variations II\u201d is perched in Ravin Plaza on Centennial Mall.<\/p><\/div>Sam Soet\u2019s artful twist titled \u201cCedar Walker Variations II\u201d sits in Ravin Plaza on Centennial Mall. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am at home outdoors in the woods.
