On Tuesday, March 2, UT\u2019s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and several other organizations will host the Student Organization Gala from 6 to 10 p.m. in the Student Union Auditorium on Main Campus.<\/p>\n

\"webmyutgalapic\"<\/a>Themed \u201cA Historic Night,\u201d the gala will include an evening of fine dining, dancing and PhotoBoothLive to celebrate all active student organization members and their hard work and dedication throughout the year.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a member of a small student organization, I understand how much time goes in gaining new members, fundraising and event planning,\u201d said Emily Hickey, UT senior, PRSSA president and event chair for the gala. \u201cThe gala is our way of saying thank you to all student organization members who work just as hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

The purpose of the gala is to encourage more collaboration between student leaders and organizations on campus.<\/p>\n

\u201cStudents are just so busy juggling school, work, organization responsibilities and on top of that trying to maintain a social life,\u201d said Angie Green, assistant director of programming at the Student Recreation Center and adviser of the Student Organization Gala. \u201cThis is a really great way for students to open up and share resources with one another.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cUltimately, we would like to bring everyone on campus closer together,\u201d Hickey said.
\n\u201cWe are thrilled by the amount of interest from all the student organizations and can\u2019t wait to have a good time.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is the first year the gala will be held, and Hickey hopes that it will continue and become an annual tradition. \u201cStudent collaboration is an important part of the college experience, and what better way to encourage that than the Student Organization Gala.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI really think this event will become larger and larger over the years,\u201d Green said. \u201cThis is an amazing opportunity, and I think UT is setting a standard among other universities when it comes to bringing the campus closer together.\u201d<\/p>\n
