{"id":52509,"date":"2018-12-03T03:02:02","date_gmt":"2018-12-03T07:02:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/utnews.utoledo.edu\/?p=52509"},"modified":"2018-11-28T16:27:16","modified_gmt":"2018-11-28T20:27:16","slug":"new-director-named-for-launchpad-incubation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/12_03_2018\/new-director-named-for-launchpad-incubation","title":{"rendered":"New director named for LaunchPad Incubation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new director of the LaunchPad Incubation Program has been named to continue The University of Toledo\u2019s support of technology commercialization and regional economic development.<\/p>\n<p>Brian Genide, a UT graduate with a bachelor\u2019s degree in psychology, brings more than 15 years of experience in business development and entrepreneurship to the University\u2019s incubation program.  <\/p>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_52510\" style=\"width: 262px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/?attachment_id=52510\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-52510\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-52510\" src=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Genide.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"252\" height=\"347\" class=\"size-full wp-image-52510\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Genide.jpg 252w, https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Genide-218x300.jpg 218w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 252px) 100vw, 252px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-52510\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Genide<\/p><\/div>He comes to UT most recently from ProMedica Innovations, where he worked as a venture partner for the NextTech Ohio Entrepreneurial Services Provider project assisting scientists and physicians in developing innovations into commercial ventures that are prepared to raise capital for company expansion.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cUT is an important contributor to the region\u2019s growth and development with a strong reputation for its support for Toledo\u2019s economic development,\u201d Genide said. \u201cI am excited to join the University to lead its LaunchPad Incubation Program that assists innovative and high-tech companies in our community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBrian\u2019s experience working with bioscience and medical device companies is a great asset to UT and greater Toledo,\u201d said Dr. Frank Calzonetti, UT vice president for research and chair of the board of NextTech Ohio. \u201cI am excited to bring Brian to UT to join a very successful technology transfer and business commercialization team. UT is committed to supporting technology-based startups in northwest Ohio, and Brian brings the experience and connections to continue our success in this area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Genide\u2019s career also includes serving as the CEO of Gottfried Medical, where he oversaw a staff of 40 that had annual revenues in excess of $3 million. He brings additional experience from business development positions at Rocket Ventures, Siemens Medical, Abbot Vascular Devices and SonoSite.<\/p>\n<p>As director of LaunchPad Incubation, Genide will work with existing tenants in UT\u2019s Nitschke Commercialization Center and its Laboratory Incubation Center, as well as recruit new companies, both from UT and the community, into the incubation program. <\/p>\n<p>Genide also will serve as UT\u2019s lead on the NextTech Ohio ESP program.
