{"id":54379,"date":"2019-03-28T03:01:20","date_gmt":"2019-03-28T07:01:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/utnews.utoledo.edu\/?p=54379"},"modified":"2019-03-27T20:25:24","modified_gmt":"2019-03-28T00:25:24","slug":"senior-guard-recognized-by-national-basketball-coaches-association","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/03_28_2019\/senior-guard-recognized-by-national-basketball-coaches-association","title":{"rendered":"Senior guard recognized by National Basketball Coaches Association"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Senior Jaelan Sanford has earned additional postseason honors, receiving First-Team All-District 14 recognition from the National Basketball Coaches Association.<\/p>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_54380\" style=\"width: 550px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/?attachment_id=54380\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-54380\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-54380\" src=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Sanford-web.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"450\" class=\"size-full wp-image-54380\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Sanford-web.jpg 540w, https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Sanford-web-300x250.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-54380\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sanford<\/p><\/div>Sanford&#8217;s honor marks the eighth straight year at least one Rocket has been included on the all-district squad. <\/p>\n<p>The National Basketball Coaches Association divides the nation into 25 districts and honors 10 players from each district, signifying a five-player first team and a five-player second team.<\/p>\n<p>A 6-foot-4, 200-pound guard, Sanford earned first-team All-Mid-American Conference honors this season after being a second-team All-MAC selection a year ago. <\/p>\n<p>Sanford paced the Rockets in scoring with 15.5 points per game and ranked second with 3.2 assists per game, a 1.7 assist\/turnover ratio, 75 free throws made and 89 free throws attempted. He also ranked first in the MAC with an 84.3 free-throw percentage and topped the Rockets with 26 double-digit scoring contests. <\/p>\n<p>He finished his career in fifth place on Toledo&#8217;s all-time scoring list with 1,789 points and fourth with 238 three-point field goals.
