In the spirit of bringing people together, UToledo electrician George Hayes Jr. is throwing a bowling event for kids, cops, military members and firefighters.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, June 15, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the seventh Build-A-Trust Bowl-A-Thon will be held at Southwyck Lanes, 5255 Heatherdowns Blvd. in Toledo. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\u201cI’ve been a youth bowling coordinator and coach since 2001 with the Toledo Bowling Senate Junior League,\u201d Hayes said. \u201cBecause of all the issues going on with our youth today, I just wanted to do something in addition to the league where we can all try and build the trust level between the police and our youth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other participants can bowl three games for $5 per person (shoes included).<\/p>\n

Hayes explained this event is meant to knock down the walls and introduce youth to authority figures.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a way to bring all groups together in a fun atmosphere \u2014 no pressure on anyone,\u201d Hayes said. <\/p>\n

\u201cSome kids are afraid of the police, and some police are a little nervous around some kids and young adults. This is a way to bring all groups together in a fun atmosphere,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

There will be music and door prizes at the event, which is expected to bring together more than 100 people.<\/p>\n

The Toledo Bowling Senate junior coordinator started this the bowl-a-thon in 2015.<\/p>\n
