{"id":55555,"date":"2019-06-26T03:28:32","date_gmt":"2019-06-26T07:28:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/utnews.utoledo.edu\/?p=55555"},"modified":"2019-06-25T15:35:22","modified_gmt":"2019-06-25T19:35:22","slug":"interim-leaders-named-to-permanent-posts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/06_26_2019\/interim-leaders-named-to-permanent-posts","title":{"rendered":"Interim leaders named to permanent posts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two longtime campus leaders who were asked this year to take on additional responsibilities on an interim basis have been permanently appointed to those roles.<\/p>\n<p>Matt Schroeder will serve as executive vice president for finance and administration and chief financial officer effective Monday, July 1. He had served in that position on an interim basis since January.<\/p>\n<p>Diane Miller will serve as chief of staff and associate vice president for government relations also effective July 1. The interim chief of staff role had been added to her responsibilities in January. <\/p>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_55557\" style=\"width: 196px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/?attachment_id=55557\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-55557\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-55557\" src=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Schroeder.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"186\" height=\"252\" class=\"size-full wp-image-55557\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-55557\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Schroeder<\/p><\/div>\u201cMatt and Diane have demonstrated strong leadership in these roles, and it is clear they are the best individuals for these positions to ensure our continued success,\u201d UToledo President Sharon L. Gaber said. \u201cWe are fortunate to have their talent and dedication, in addition to their vast institutional knowledge. The stability and continuity that they provide will help us continue to make progress on our strategic priorities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his role, Schroeder oversees UToledo\u2019s offices of Finance; Budget and Planning; Facilities and Construction; Auxiliaries; Human Resources; Public Safety; and Internal Audit and Compliance.<\/p>\n<p>Schroeder joined the University in 2015 as chief of staff from the UToledo Foundation, where he was chief operating officer. He served nine years with the UToledo Foundation and eight years with the former Medical University of Ohio.<\/p>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_55559\" style=\"width: 196px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/?attachment_id=55559\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-55559\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-55559\" src=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Miller.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"186\" height=\"258\" class=\"size-full wp-image-55559\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-55559\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Miller<\/p><\/div>As chief of staff, Miller is responsible for managing the operational functions of the Office of the President and advising the senior leadership team. In leading the Office of Government Relations, Miller oversees UToledo\u2019s federal relations, state relations, local relations and community engagement activities.<\/p>\n<p>Miller has been a member of the UToledo team since 2007 and before that had served as staff to U.S. Senator Mike DeWine.<\/p>\n<p>Both are UToledo alumni. Schroeder has an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan and a B.B.A. in management from UToledo.
