The University of Toledo and Tony Packo’s announced a partnership July 22 that will make Tony Packo’s the official hot dog at all Rocket home athletic events at the Glass Bowl and Savage Arena, beginning with the 2019 football season.<\/p>\n

“We are extremely excited that Packo’s is now the official hot dog of The University of Toledo,” said Jimmy Harmon, CEO of Tony Packo’s Toledo LLC. “Our brands just fit so well together, and we are so ecstatic about our UToledo partnership.”<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>“As fans’ expectations and tastes evolve, we are dedicated to bringing them the best that Toledo has to offer,\u201d said Cameron McAdams, resident district manager for dining and hospitality services with Aramark. “We are proud to partner with Packo’s, a hometown tradition since 1932. Rocket fans can now enjoy an original Packo’s hot dog or Front Street frank at all home football and basketball games.”<\/p>\n

Aramark is UToledo’s dining and catering vendor, and serves Rocket fans at all home sports events.<\/p>\n

Tony Packo’s has been a Toledo tradition since Tony Packo and his wife, Rose, opened a small restaurant on the east side in 1932. <\/p>\n

The tradition of having celebrities sign Packo’s hot dog buns began in 1972 when movie star Burt Reynolds responded to a request for an autograph by signing a bun. Buns signed by presidents, actors, musicians, astronauts and more can be seen in all Packo’s restaurant locations. Tony Packo’s has five area restaurants, including one on Secor Road less than a mile from the UToledo campus.<\/p>\n

The Rockets will open the 2019 home football season Saturday, Sept. 14, in a 7 p.m. game vs. Murray State.<\/p>\n

Full-time UToledo employees and retirees may purchase up to two season tickets at half-price. Additional season tickets may be purchased at the full price. UToledo students are admitted to home games free with ID.<\/p>\n
