More than 60 UToledo members have started to prepare for the Higher Learning Commission accreditation.<\/p>\n
A kickoff breakfast took place Oct. 15 and featured guest speaker Dr. A. Gigi Fansler, vice president for accreditation relations at the Higher Learning Commission.<\/p>\n
A team representing the Higher Learning Commission will conduct an on-site visit sometime in 2021-22. <\/p>\n
To get ready for that visit, UToledo is putting together an assurance filing, made up of an assurance argument (commonly referred to as a self-study) that has links to materials in an evidence file. This narrative and supportive evidence will demonstrate that UToledo meets the Higher Learning Commission\u2019s criteria for accreditation. <\/p>\n
Those five criteria are:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Mission \u2014 \u201cThe institution\u2019s mission is clear and articulated publicly; it guides the institution\u2019s operations.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2022 Integrity: Ethical and Responsible Conduct \u2014 \u201cThe institution acts with integrity; its conduct is ethical and responsible.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2022 Teaching and Learning: Quality, Resources and Support \u2014 \u201cThe institution provides quality education, wherever and however its offerings are delivered.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2022 Teaching and Learning: Evaluation and Improvement \u2014 \u201cThe institution demonstrates responsibility for the quality of its educational programs, learning environments and support services, and it evaluates their effectiveness for student learning through processes designed to promote continuous improvement.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2022 Institutional Effectiveness, Resources and Planning \u2014 \u201cThe institution\u2019s resources, structures, processes and planning are sufficient to fulfill its mission, improve the quality of its educational offerings, and respond to future challenges and opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n
