{"id":59331,"date":"2020-05-07T03:08:55","date_gmt":"2020-05-07T07:08:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/?p=59331"},"modified":"2020-05-06T11:14:20","modified_gmt":"2020-05-06T15:14:20","slug":"new-university-studies-degree-program-launched-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/05_07_2020\/new-university-studies-degree-program-launched-online","title":{"rendered":"New University Studies Degree Program Launched Online"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Starting this fall, UToledo students can enroll in the University Studies Degree Program and earn a bachelor\u2019s degree with a customized plan of study 100% online. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.utoledo.edu\/adult-degree\/\"><strong>The University Studies Degree Program<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 formerly known as the Individualized Studies Degree Program \u2014 is designed to be accessible for working professionals to help advance their careers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/?attachment_id=59332\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-59332\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/University-College-logo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"468\" height=\"318\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-59332\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/University-College-logo.jpg 468w, https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/University-College-logo-300x204.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 468px) 100vw, 468px\" \/><\/a>\u201cThis degree program is an attractive online option for those individuals with some college who are looking to complete their degree for career growth, or for adult students looking for a flexible path to begin and complete their degree,\u201d said Dr. Barbara Kopp Miller, dean of University College.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe University Studies Degree Program allows students to build individualized bachelor\u2019s degrees around their interests and goals,\u201d said Mitch Perez, director of online recruitment in University College.<\/p>\n<p>Working with an academic advisor, students in the University Studies Degree Program develop a plan to earn either a bachelor of arts degree or bachelor of science degree.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis program is perfect for adult learners, college transfer students and military veterans,\u201d said Shannon Neumann, senior director of academic affairs and online operations in University College. \u201cThey can earn credit for relevant volunteer, academic and work experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>UToledo\u2019s competency-based education model provides students self-paced online learning that\u2019s personalized and convenient.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStudents in the University Studies Degree Program advance through the courses based on their individual ability,\u201d Perez explained. \u201cOnce students master a subject, they advance to the next topic. This allows students the chance to accelerate at their own pace and finish on their terms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Graduates from the University Studies Degree Program work in a variety of fields.
