Tomorrow\u2019s doctors, nurses and other health professionals aren\u2019t waiting for a diploma to contribute to their fields. Several Rockets set themselves apart in a recent statewide competition among health science and biomedical programs in events testing their medical knowledge, presentation skills and analytical abilities. <\/p>\n

The UToledo chapter of the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Future Health Professionals competed remotely for the first time in the organization\u2019s annual State Leadership Conference against chapters from other Ohio colleges and universities. More than 1,000 teams from high schools and postsecondary institutions participated in the competition.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Because of their placing performances, the UToledo students qualified to compete in the HOSA International Leadership Conference, which will be held virtually Wednesday through Saturday, June 24-27. <\/p>\n

\u201cDespite the challenges faced in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, our members continued to showcase dedication and pride,\u201d said Rupesh Boddapati, a bioengineering major as well as founder and president of UToledo\u2019s chapter of HOSA Future Health Professionals. \u201cWe cannot thank them enough for their participation as well as their involvement in the UToledo chapter.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2022 Aditya Acharya, first place in medical law and ethics;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Amarjot Bhangu, first place in job-seeking skills;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Rupesh Boddapati, first place in pathophysiology;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Sharvari Brahme, third place in prepared speaking;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Samhitha Dasari, second place in human growth and development;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Maya Girn, second place in cultural diversities and disparities;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Megha Girn, second place in nutrition;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Jeremy Mathews, second place in medical math;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Drew Pariseau, first place in nutrition;<\/p>\n

\u2022 Jessica Rinehart, third place in medical math; and<\/p>\n
