Eric Chaffee, Distinguished University Professor in The University of Toledo College of Law, was recently elected a fellow of the\u00a0American Bar Foundation, an honor limited to only 1% of lawyers licensed to practice in each jurisdiction.<\/p>\n

Eric Chaffee joins a group of notable American Bar Foundation Fellows, including Chief Justice of the United States John Roberts and Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Sonia Sotomayor.<\/p><\/div>\n

American Bar Foundation Fellows\u00a0is a global honorary society of attorneys, judges, law faculty and legal scholars whose public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the highest principles of the legal profession and to the\u00a0welfare of their communities. Members are nominated by their peers and selected by the foundation\u2019s board. Fellows hail from nearly 40 countries and hold a wide variety of influential roles.<\/p>\n

“I am excited to become a part of the American Bar Foundation,” Chaffee said. “Its commitment to research and access to justice are outstanding.\u00a0I’m honored to join the ranks of its members.”<\/p>\n

Chaffee teaches courses relating to business law, contract law, tax law and trusts and estates. A prolific writer, his scholarship focuses on business and tax law with an emphasis on securities regulation, cyberlaw, compliance and business ethics. He is co-author of the leading treatise on securities regulation in cyberspace and the textbook on international securities regulation. In December 2020, he was elected as a new member of The American Law Institute<\/a>.<\/p>\n
