As the fall semester approaches, students and employees at The University of Toledo can look forward to new and updated dining options including a burger joint, a locally inspired caf\u00e9 and the reopening of the all-you-care-to-eat cafeteria in the Thompson Student Union.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re excited to be getting back to normal and able to offer students several new dining options and venues at the start of the new term,\u201d said Michael Dennis, associate vice president for finance and treasurer. \u00a0In addition to The Eatery cafeteria reopening for breakfast, lunch and dinner, new additions and the Frogtown Cafe will join the Student Union\u2019s dining lineup.<\/p>\n

Serving fresh-made burgers, fries and milkshakes, True Burger is one of several new or updated dining options coming soon to the\u00a0Thompson Student Union.<\/p><\/div>\n

The Frogtown Cafe \u2014 which pays homage to Toledo\u2019s Great Black Swamp beginnings \u2014 replaces the former Starbucks counter in the Student Union as a bistro-style location that will include additional seating and features a menu of coffee, soups, salads, sandwiches and paninis.<\/p>\n

Unlike Starbucks, the Frogtown Cafe will accept dining dollars and meal exchanges, giving students with meal plans a convenient additional option within the Student Union.<\/p>\n

Starbucks devotees will still be able to get their preferred specialty drinks in the nearby Carlson Library location, which was recently expanded with more seating and power points for charging laptops and phones.<\/p>\n

Also new for fall will be a full menu, including breakfast, at the recently expanded Chick-fil-A. Subway, Tu Taco, Wild Pie, Pom & Honey and ACE Sushi will return, rounding out the Student Union\u2019s retail offerings.<\/p>\n

The Food Hall at Ottawa East also is being renovated to refresh the all-you-care-to-eat cafeteria\u2019s look, improve its traffic flow and add about 150 new seats. Work will begin this summer and is scheduled to be finished over winter break. The cafeteria will remain open throughout the renovations.<\/p>\n

Also new for fall at Ottawa East will be an Erbert and Gerbert\u2019s sub shop, giving students an additional retail option on the southwest side of campus.<\/p>\n

Finally, the University is adding a grab-and-go, self-checkout market in Nitschke Hall featuring snacks, drinks and premade salads and sandwiches.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\"\"<\/a>
