{"id":69150,"date":"2021-10-13T10:53:42","date_gmt":"2021-10-13T14:53:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/?p=69150"},"modified":"2021-10-14T08:38:09","modified_gmt":"2021-10-14T12:38:09","slug":"utoledo-esports-games-to-be-streamed-this-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/10_13_2021\/utoledo-esports-games-to-be-streamed-this-season","title":{"rendered":"UToledo Esports Games to be Streamed This Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Toledo\u2019s varsity esports games will be streamed this season by eFuse, the esports platform headquartered in Columbus, where gamers seeking a path to becoming professional may get discovered.<\/p>\n<p>UToledo, which was one of the founding members of the Esports Collegiate Conference based in Cleveland in 2020, fields about 40 players on four different teams.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ESports.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-69152\" src=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ESports.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ESports.jpg 748w, https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ESports-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a>Watch UToledo\u2019s games and see their full schedule on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.twitch.tv\/utoledoesports\">the team\u2019s Twitch account<\/a>. Previous games also can be viewed on the website, including one streamed earlier this week against Kent State University.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe partnership with eFuse introduces the UToledo campus community to international exposure for our\u00a0esports\u00a0program and our players,\u201d said Camerin Sharak, esports\u00a0student specialist and Rocket League team captain.<\/p>\n<p>The conference now hosts 14 teams, many of which compete nationally against other elite programs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very excited to welcome eFuse as a part of Esports Collegiate,\u201d said Bob Gennarelli, executive director of Esports Collegiate. \u201cWe believe this partnership opens up tremendous possibilities for the students involved in Esports Collegiate both during and after their tenure in the league.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Under its \u201ceRena\u201d production platform, eFuse expects to produce 280 total games and welcome 166 players during the 2021-22 academic season.
