The Jesup Scott Honors College recognized their graduating students at the Fall Medallion Ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 5. The 25 students were awarded their Honors medallion, ahead of Commencement on Dec. 18.<\/p>\n

Twenty-five graduating honors students were recognized for their academic achievements and awarded their Honors medallion at a ceremony on Dec. 5.<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cIn this small, formal event we\u2019re able to individually celebrate the amazing accomplishments of these students who have challenged themselves to achieve so much with great success,\u201d said Dr. Heidi Appel, dean of the Honors College. \u201cWe\u2019re excited to see them continue that success in the next phase of their lives, improving the world for others along the way.\u201d<\/p>\n

The medallions celebrate the Honors students\u2019 success and completion of a more rigorous curriculum through their time as a Rocket. Students must meet certain requirements including completing all Honors coursework, a thesis or capstone and all additional requirements set through their degree-awarding college, as well as maintain at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA.<\/p>\n

After graduation, the students will be moving on to employment at local and national organizations and graduate and professional programs at UToledo and throughout the United States.<\/p>\n

Dr. Thomas Wakefield, professor of vascular surgery and head of the section of vascular surgery at The University of Michigan Health Frankel Cardiovascular Center, who is a 1975 honors graduate of UToledo, provided the alumni remarks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
