The Office of the Provost recently announced the\u00a0UToledo Faculty\u00a0Mentoring Award<\/strong><\/a> to recognize a faculty member who has made significant contributions to faculty success through faculty\u00a0mentoring.<\/p>\n

Mentoring can take several forms,\u00a0including advice on professionalism; feedback and guidance on teaching, research and service; career coaching; and advice on how to improve work and life balance.<\/p>\n

Up to two faculty members will be recognized each year.\u00a0Award winners will receive a signed certificate and a cash award of $1,000.<\/p>\n

Eligibility Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0 Nominees must be full-time, current UToledo faculty members;<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0 Nominees should have served as a faculty\u00a0mentor \u2014\u00a0in a formal or informal capacity \u2014\u00a0to one or more junior or mid-career faculty over a continuous period of at least three or more years; and<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0 This award may only be awarded once to a faculty member.<\/p>\n

Selection Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0 An overall record of\u00a0mentoring of faculty;<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0 A sustained commitment to the\u00a0mentoring of faculty that results in the personal and professional development of the mentee;<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0 Demonstration of the creation of a supportive environment where faculty can grow and openly share challenges and successes;<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0 Maintaining high standards as a role model for their mentee as an engaged member of the University community; and<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0 Involvement of mentees in research, scholarship or creative activities, or sharing other campus and professional opportunities for leadership.<\/p>\n

Nomination Procedures<\/strong><\/p>\n

Submit a completed nomination form, which is available at the Office of the Provost website<\/a>, along with a letter of support\u00a0<\/strong>and a\u00a0maximum of two additional letters. Letters may be solicited from past or present mentees of the nominee, the nominee\u2019s department chair, the nominee\u2019s dean or other appropriate individuals.\u00a0Letters should directly address criteria for the award and should not exceed two pages each.<\/p>\n

All application materials should be submitted by\u00a0Feb. 28.<\/p>\n

All nomination materials will be reviewed by a selection committee and evaluated based on the designated criteria with a recommendation being made to the provost.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
