{"id":73854,"date":"2022-06-02T11:07:52","date_gmt":"2022-06-02T15:07:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/?p=73854"},"modified":"2022-06-02T11:07:52","modified_gmt":"2022-06-02T15:07:52","slug":"masks-strongly-recommended-indoors-as-cdc-raises-county-alert-level","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/06_02_2022\/masks-strongly-recommended-indoors-as-cdc-raises-county-alert-level","title":{"rendered":"Masks Strongly Recommended Indoors as CDC Raises County Alert Level"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With COVID-19 case numbers again rising in Lucas County, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has increased the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/your-health\/covid-by-county.html\">community alert level<\/a> to red.<\/p>\n<p>This designation comes with a recommendation from the CDC that individuals wear masks when indoors.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the pandemic, The University of Toledo has relied on CDC guidance to inform its response. Continuing with that practice, UToledo is now strongly recommending all individuals wear masks when indoors on our campuses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore than once, we\u2019ve been hopeful that the country had turned a corner in this pandemic only to see a resurgence in cases. I understand this is frustrating to many of us as we must continue to adapt,\u201d UToledo President Gregory Postel said. \u201cWe need to remain flexible to continue to promote a safe campus environment and following these best practices is the best way to protect our campus and our people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The University\u2019s recommendation for wearing masks does not extend to individuals who are outdoors, alone in their office or eating.<\/p>\n<p>UToledo continues to make disposable, surgical-style face masks available for free to faculty, staff and students at the following locations:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0 Carlson Library circulation desk<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0 Mulford Library circulation desk<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0 Student Recreation Center front desk<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0 Morse Fitness Center front desk<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0 Office of the Provost, University Hall Room 3340<\/p>\n<p>The University also strongly encourages students and employees to receive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/vaccines\/booster-shot.html\">COVID-19 vaccine booster doses<\/a> when eligible.
