{"id":75681,"date":"2022-10-04T03:00:33","date_gmt":"2022-10-04T07:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/?p=75681"},"modified":"2022-10-10T16:32:52","modified_gmt":"2022-10-10T20:32:52","slug":"grammy-winning-rapper-headlines-founders-day-concert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/10_04_2022\/grammy-winning-rapper-headlines-founders-day-concert","title":{"rendered":"Grammy-winning Rapper Headlines Founder\u2019s Day Concert"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>UPDATE: Due to the weather forecast, The University of Toledo\u2019s Founder\u2019s Day concert is being moved indoors to Savage Arena, and the fireworks and food trucks are canceled.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Music is a big part of The University of Toledo\u2019s Founder\u2019s Day celebration on Wednesday, Oct. 12, and the campus and Toledo-area communities are invited.<\/p>\n<p>Grammy-winning rapper T-Pain is the headliner for a concert lineup that includes national artists country rapper David Morris and country singer Nate Smith as featured performers, and local bands Distant Cousinz and the Skittle Bots as the openers.<\/p>\n<p>The free concert is in Savage Arena. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with a maximum capacity of 4,000 people on a first-come, first-served basis. Exclusions include handicap, reserved, patient and metered parking.<\/p>\n<p>The Founder\u2019s Day celebration is supported by generous sponsors, including Kripke Enterprises and ParkUToledo.<\/p>\n<p>Established in 1872, The University of Toledo has a storied history with more than 168,000 alumni around the world. A year-long sesquicentennial celebration will recognize the historic milestones, achievements and the positive impact the University has had since its founding 150 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>A new website,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.utoledo.edu\/150celebration\/\"><strong>utoledo.edu\/150celebration<\/strong><\/a>, was created in honor of the occasion. The website features institutional history, alumni profiles, sesquicentennial events and more. Members of the Rocket community can share their personal UToledo stories in honor of the celebration using the hashtag #UToledo150.<\/p>\n<p>Special commemorative merchandise also is for sale online.
