Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur visited The University of Toledo Medical Center on Monday, going on a tour that included stops at the Kobaker Center, the Eleanor N. Dana Cancer Center and the hospital\u2019s recently opened surgical intensive care unit.<\/p>\n

Ohio Department of Higher Education Chancellor Randy Gardner and Lori Criss, director of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, also took part in the tour.<\/p>\n

The visit served to highlight recent investments at UTMC, as well as potential growth opportunities, including in behavioral health.<\/p>\n

DeWine and Kaptur played an instrumental role in supporting UTMC\u2019s application to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to receive a higher reimbursement rate from Medicaid. The application, which was approved early last year, generates an additional $25 million in annual funding to the hospital.<\/p>\n
