{"id":80786,"date":"2023-06-22T04:00:32","date_gmt":"2023-06-22T08:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/?p=80786"},"modified":"2023-06-29T08:41:05","modified_gmt":"2023-06-29T12:41:05","slug":"rocket-soars-around-the-world-through-new-college-of-arts-and-letters-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/06_22_2023\/rocket-soars-around-the-world-through-new-college-of-arts-and-letters-program","title":{"rendered":"Rocket Soars Around the World Through New College of Arts and Letters Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jordyn Fearon loves traveling and wanted to study abroad while in college.<\/p>\n<p>So when a pair of opportunities to study in Europe was presented at UToledo during her freshmen year, Fearon knew they were too good to pass up.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_80788\" style=\"width: 394px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-80788\" class=\"wp-image-80788 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Jordyn-Fearon-STORY.jpg\" alt=\"Jordyn Fearon, a law and social thought sophomore at UToledo, poses in front of boats in the ocean and homes on a cliff in Sorrento, Italy.\" width=\"384\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Jordyn-Fearon-STORY.jpg 384w, https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Jordyn-Fearon-STORY-230x300.jpg 230w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 384px) 100vw, 384px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-80788\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jordyn Fearon, a law and social thought sophomore at UToledo, during her first study abroad trip to Sorrento, Italy.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>By the start of fall semester, Fearon, a sophomore from Sugarcreek studying law and social thought, will have studied abroad in Sorrento, Italy, and London.<\/p>\n<p>Fearon is part of the College of Arts and Letters\u2019 inaugural <a href=\"https:\/\/www.givecampus.com\/schools\/TheUniversityofToledo\/palmer-global-fellows-program\">Palmer Global Fellows Program.<\/a> Thanks to the donations of Tom and Susan Palmer, a two-time alumna, Fearon and 10 other first-year College of Arts and Letters students were able to participate in a fully paid, weeklong trip to Sorrento from May 6 through 13.<\/p>\n<p>The Palmer Global Fellows Program offers every first-year student in the College of Arts and Letters a passport and the chance to be selected for the Global Fellows cohort, where this small group of students will embark on a faculty-led international excursion at no cost to them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis has honestly been a once-in-a-lifetime experience getting to go to Italy,\u201d Fearon said. \u201cI wouldn\u2019t trade the people I met or memories made on this trip for anything.
