{"id":86544,"date":"2024-05-09T03:20:43","date_gmt":"2024-05-09T07:20:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/?p=86544"},"modified":"2024-05-08T17:05:16","modified_gmt":"2024-05-08T21:05:16","slug":"utmc-recognized-for-lgbtq-inclusive-care","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/05_09_2024\/utmc-recognized-for-lgbtq-inclusive-care","title":{"rendered":"UTMC Recognized for LGBTQ+ Inclusive Care"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Toledo Medical Center has again been recognized by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation for providing LGBTQ+ inclusive patient care.<\/p>\n<p>In the foundation\u2019s 2024 Healthcare Equality Index, released Tuesday, UTMC was named an LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality High Performer.<\/p>\n<p>UTMC was the only hospital in northwest Ohio to receive the designation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are honored UTMC received this award recognizing our commitment to creating an inclusive, welcoming environment that promotes wellness and healing,\u201d said UTMC CEO Rick Swaine.<\/p>\n<p>Launched in 2007, the Healthcare Equality Index has become the nation\u2019s leading national benchmarking tool for LGBTQ+ inclusive policies and best practices in healthcare facilities.<\/p>\n<p>The Healthcare Equality Index evaluates and scores healthcare facilities for their foundational policies and training in LGBTQA+ patient-centered care, LGBTQA+ patient services and support, employee policies and benefits and patient and community engagement.<\/p>\n<p>The 2024 report, which is based on data collected in 2022 and 2023, included nearly 1,100 participants.
