{"id":89118,"date":"2024-10-25T04:00:42","date_gmt":"2024-10-25T08:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/?p=89118"},"modified":"2024-10-28T09:17:42","modified_gmt":"2024-10-28T13:17:42","slug":"transfer-student-realizes-longtime-goal-of-becoming-rocket","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/10_25_2024\/transfer-student-realizes-longtime-goal-of-becoming-rocket","title":{"rendered":"Transfer Student Realizes Longtime Goal of Becoming Rocket"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Madison Jacob always planned on becoming a Rocket.<\/p>\n<p>From Petersburg, Michigan, Jacob first enrolled at Monroe County Community College (MCCC) to earn her associate of applied science degree in business management.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-89119\" src=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/National-Transfer-Student-Week-Spotlight-Madison-Jacob.png\" alt=\"ALT: Promotional graphic for National Transfer Student Week with a headshot of Madison Jacob.\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/National-Transfer-Student-Week-Spotlight-Madison-Jacob.png 748w, https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/National-Transfer-Student-Week-Spotlight-Madison-Jacob-300x169.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/>\u201cI went to MCCC rather than coming straight to UToledo because it was a great opportunity to lower the cost of college, and I wanted to start at a smaller school,\u201d she said. \u201cThe transfer process was also very smooth because I was able to meet with a transfer advisor from UToledo while I was there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While attending MCCC, Jacob worked closely with Hala Abou-Dahech, associate director of adult and transfer admissions at UToledo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe was my transfer advisor who I met with multiple times while I was at MCCC,\u201d Jacob said. \u201cHala helped me plan my schedule to ensure I took classes that would transfer for my major.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Abou-Dahech and Jacob worked together for two years to ensure Jacob\u2019s credits would transfer to UToledo for her major in marketing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMadison and I met regularly to ensure her transfer from MCCC was smooth and to discuss the numerous opportunities that would be available to her as a Rocket,\u201d Abou-Dahech said. \u201cI was so impressed with her friendliness, professionalism and attention to detail that I invited her to apply to an admission ambassador position in the Office of Undergraduate Admission. Today, Madison is excelling in the classroom and helping us to recruit future transfer students.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now a junior starting her first semester at UToledo, Jacob said she has had a great experience as a student in business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe thing that I enjoy most about marketing is the ability to be creative. I also find it interesting that there are so many new ways to market and interact with customers on social media,\u201d she said. \u201cThis semester, I have good teachers who are very supportive and helpful.
