{"id":90575,"date":"2025-01-28T12:40:54","date_gmt":"2025-01-28T16:40:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/?p=90575"},"modified":"2025-01-29T11:13:35","modified_gmt":"2025-01-29T15:13:35","slug":"utoledo-names-new-title-ix-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/01_28_2025\/utoledo-names-new-title-ix-director","title":{"rendered":"UToledo Names New Title IX Director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Toledo\u2019s new director of Title IX and compliance has years of experience in law enforcement, Title IX and higher education.<\/p>\n<p>Michelle McDevitt joined UToledo in 2020 as an investigator in the Title IX office after spending nearly a decade at Lourdes University, where she was director of public safety and Title IX coordinator.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_90577\" style=\"width: 252px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-90577\" class=\"wp-image-90577\" src=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/03132020-0003-Michelle-McDevitt-STORY.jpg\" alt=\"Headshot of Michelle McDevitt, The University of Toledo\u2019s new director of Title IX.\" width=\"242\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/03132020-0003-Michelle-McDevitt-STORY.jpg 404w, https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/03132020-0003-Michelle-McDevitt-STORY-242x300.jpg 242w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 242px) 100vw, 242px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-90577\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">McDevitt<\/p><\/div>\n<p>McDevitt moved up the ranks in the Title IX Office at UToledo to become the associate director and senior deputy Title IX coordinator prior to being named interim director of the Title IX Office late last year.<\/p>\n<p>She was selected as the permanent Title IX director earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMichelle has a positive attitude and is an excellent example of what dedication and hard work can achieve,\u201d said Dr. J. Lee Johnson, executive vice president for finance and administration and chief financial officer. \u201cHer leadership and expertise will help to ensure that we continue to foster a safe, inclusive environment for all at UToledo, and I&#8217;m grateful to have her on our team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McDevitt, who has spent her life in the Toledo area, holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in criminal justice and a master\u2019s degree in organizational leadership from Lourdes University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in higher education from UToledo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited for the opportunity to lead Title IX at UToledo,\u201d she said. \u201cI really love the higher ed environment and I\u2019ve had great leaders here who have helped me to grow in my career.
