UTMC has been recognized by the Lown Institute as one of the country\u2019s most socially responsible hospitals.<\/p><\/div>\n
UTMC \u2014 which received an \u201cA\u201d rating in all three areas \u2014 was among 125 hospitals nationally and the only one in northwest Ohio to earn a place on the institute\u2019s honor role.<\/p>\n

Lown\u2019s rankings are based on more than 50 measures, including community benefit, patient inclusivity, cost-efficiency and patient outcomes such as in-hospital mortality rates, 30-day readmission rates and preventing hospital-acquired infections.<\/p>\n
UTMC scored especially well in Lown\u2019s \u201cavoiding overuse\u201d category, a metric that evaluates how well a hospital limits its use of tests and procedures that offer little clinical benefit.<\/p>\n
The Massachusetts-based think tank has published its Lown Institute Hospitals Index annually since 2020. This is UTMC\u2019s first time to be included in the honor role. Overall, Lown placed UTMC No. 104 in the nation and No. 7 in the state of Ohio in its 2025-2026 index.<\/p>\n
