The University of Toledo College of Law will welcome back a highly respected legal educator and scholar on Wednesday, Nov. 12.<\/p>\n

Blake Morant, a former faculty member who is now a professor and former dean of the George Washington University Law School, will present \u201cThe Critical Importance of Professionalism in the 21st Century\u201d at noon in the McQuade Law Auditorium.<\/p>\n

Blake Morant is the Robert Kramer Research Professor of Law at the George Washington University Law School.<\/p><\/div>\n

His free, public lecture continues the College of Law\u2019s 2025-26 Toledo Way Series, which is named as a nod to the well-known collegiality that characterizes the legal community in Toledo.<\/p>\n

\u201cBlake Morant is a nationally known and respected scholar and dean who started his career as a professor at Toledo Law,\u201d said Rebecca Zietlow, dean of the College of Law. \u201cI am delighted that he is returning to share his wisdom.”<\/p>\n

Morant is the Robert Kramer Research Professor of Law at the George Washington University Law School, where he stepped down as dean in 2019. He previously served as dean of the Wake Forest University School of Law, and he has taught at additional law schools across the country including UToledo\u2019s College of Law.<\/p>\n

Morant also has served in numerous national leadership positions at the Association of American Law Schools and the American Bar Association.<\/p>\n

In \u201cThe Critical Importance of Professionalism in the 21st Century,\u201d Morant will explore how technology and individualism are diminishing civil engagement and a unified sense of purpose, which he sees as mainstays of a functional society, and why citizens, particularly lawyers, must advocate for altruism, civility and respect for the rule of law.<\/p>\n
