That should inform everything we do,” Frattarelli said. “I see my role here as helping to further develop the processes and environments that allow our teams to best support their patients — and each other.”

As chief physician executive, Frattarelli will provide strategic leadership and clinical oversight for the physician group’s nearly 400 physicians and advanced practice providers, drawing on his experience in practice management, physician compensation, payor contracting and outcomes improvement. He also will contribute to UToledo Health’s overall strategy and operational initiatives as a member of the senior leadership team.

“This is an important role within the UToledo Health senior leadership team, and Dr. Frattarelli’s expertise and energy will be instrumental as we advance our strategy to support the mission of the University, provide high-quality patient care and foster a supportive, empowering environment for our staff to deliver healthcare,” said Dr. Charles Callahan, executive vice president for health affairs.

Frattarelli has spent his entire career in the metro Detroit area, including nearly 20 years with Beaumont Health, which became Corewell Health in 2022. From 2018 to 2023, he served as president of Beaumont Medical Group, where he increased patient satisfaction and quality scores, streamlined Beaumont’s physician compensation and contracting processes and oversaw the creation of a practice data management tool that improved patient access and operational efficiency.

Prior to that, Frattarelli was Beaumont Medical Group’s primary care physician executive, leading an effort to unify nearly 100 separate primary care practices and improve value-based performance.

Frattarelli, who earned his medical degree at Michigan State University, is a past chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Drugs, where he played a key role in passing the FDA Safety and Innovation Act, which improved pediatric medication labeling and research. He has more than 35 publications on pediatric pharmacology.

In addition to his executive leadership, Frattarelli will maintain a pediatric medicine practice and serve as associate dean of clinical affairs in The University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences, helping to align the University’s clinical, academic and research missions.

“I’ve met so many great people through the interview process, and this program has a widely recognized reputation for excellent clinical care and an engaged culture,” Frattarelli said. “We’re the only academic medical center in town. All the pieces are in place. Now I’m excited to see how we can work together to make things even better for those people out there who are counting on us, and to support the academic mission of the University.”

<img width="120" height="120" src="https://news.utoledo.edu/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/Frattarelli_Daniel-SIDE-150x150.jpg" class="alignright tfe wp-post-image" alt="Headshot of Dr. Daniel A.
