Carlson, associate dean for faculty development and affairs and professor of surgery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPhysician wellness is a topic of critical importance in healthcare to provide for its sustainability in the clinical and educational spaces. Dr. Shanafelt is an international thought leader in physician wellness and burnout, and his contributions to these initiatives are noteworthy and transformational.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shanafelt serves as the Jeanie and Stewart Ritchie Professor and the chief wellness officer at the Stanford University School of Medicine.
