{"id":99163,"date":"2026-05-19T03:30:45","date_gmt":"2026-05-19T07:30:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/?p=99163"},"modified":"2026-05-21T09:00:29","modified_gmt":"2026-05-21T13:00:29","slug":"utoledo-graduates-first-class-of-neuroscience-majors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.utoledo.edu\/index.php\/05_19_2026\/utoledo-graduates-first-class-of-neuroscience-majors","title":{"rendered":"UToledo Graduates First Class of Neuroscience Majors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Toledo conferred its first bachelor&#8217;s degrees in neuroscience on May 2, marking a milestone for a program that has become one of the institution&#8217;s fastest-expanding majors since launching in spring 2023, with roughly 80 students now enrolled.<\/p>\n<p>The neuroscience B.S. was conceived in 2017 by Dr. David Giovannucci, director of the Raymond &amp; Beverly Sackler Laboratory for Neuroendocrine Tumor Research, and Dr. Bruce Bamber, chair of biological sciences. The two set out to build a curriculum that distinguished itself from traditional biology-and-psychology programs by integrating a medical component.
