\"glass-city-landscape-postcard-front-wo-bleed\"<\/a>Nine students armed with cameras set out to capture the urban landscape of Toledo last semester.<\/p>\n

The results are striking. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe work that the students were producing was so good that I put together a group show proposal for the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo,\u201d said Seder Burns, visiting assistant professor of art. \u201cThis is a competitive process. Our show was accepted.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Glass City Landscape: 10 Area Artists Interpret the Urban Landscape of Toledo\u201d is on display through Friday, Feb. 25, in the Parkwood Gallery, 1838 Parkwood Ave. The free, public exhibit can be seen Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

\u201cFamiliar encounters with our city and its suburbs are amplified with color, distortion and visual repetition to deepen our sensitivity to our own Toledo reality,\u201d Burns said of the show.<\/p>\n

Works in the exhibition are by students who took the Light and Landscape Photography class last fall: John Aston, Fred Bretzloff, Susan Castillo, Aubrey Kirkendall, Kristen Long, Katy Payne, Noah Roszczipka, Jacob Tebbe and Cherilyn Von Maluski.<\/p>\n

\u201cExhibiting prepares students for life as professional artists,\u201d said Burns, who was the curator of the exhibit and included his impressions as well. \u201cThey had to print their images, mat and frame them, prepare resum\u00e9s, produce the postcards, hang the show, market the show, and make a website.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaving an exhibition record will assist the students if they should apply to graduate school,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd it is a nice opportunity to show off their work to the public.\u201d<\/p>\n
