University of Toledo faculty will share expert insights into international relations in a free, public lecture series beginning this week at the Toledo Lucas County Public Library.<\/p>\n
Understanding the World, presented by the Toledo Library and UToledo\u2019s Judith Herb College of Arts, Social Sciences and Education, aims to explore international events that are transforming our world, from power and politics to conflict and culture.<\/p>\n
The series encompasses three lectures through August. Each takes place from 3 to 5 p.m. in Meeting Room 1 on the first floor of the Main Library at 325 N. Michigan St., Toledo.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0 Thursday, June 25: Dr. Shingi Mavima and Boitshoko Molefhi, an associate professor and doctoral student in the Department of History, respectively, will examine the rise of multiple centers of global influence and how nations collaborate and compete on the world stage in \u201cAfrica and the U.S. in a World with Shared Power<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n \u2022\u00a0 Thursday, July 23: Dr. Joel Voss, an associate professor of political science, will examine how international law influences modern conflicts and offer insights into the legal and political frameworks that affect nations and individuals around the world in \u201cInternational Law and War<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n \u2022\u00a0 Thursday, Aug. 13: Dr. Barry Jackisch, an associate professor of history and the Philip Markowicz Endowed Professor in Judaism and Jewish Biblical Studies, will present \u201cHow the Ukraine War Is Reshaping Europe and NATO<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n
