Preparations are scheduled to begin this week to install a new steam and condensate tunnel on Main Campus.

The new line will run from the Thompson Student Union to the Snyder Memorial Building, and through Centennial Mall to the Health and Human Services Building.

Contractors from Industrial Power Systems of Rossford, Ohio, will set up a trailer behind the Snyder Memorial Building and relocate the parking kiosk Thursday, March 21.

On Friday, March 22, a temporary sidewalk will be installed on the east side of the Thompson Student Union heading toward Centennial Mall. The walkway will be in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and provide access from the east to the Thompson Student Union and north to the mall during the entire project.

Fencing will go up Monday, March 25, with additional fencing expected in May after commencement.

During the project, the north entrance of Snyder Memorial Building will be open.

“The steam and condensate lines are for heating, so it will not affect any buildings this summer,” Dan Perry, electrical manager in Facilities and Construction, said.

The new steam and condensate tunnel is scheduled to be complete in mid-August.
