Competing against nationally ranked opponents, unranked UToledo fencer William Becker finished in third place in mixed sabre at the Nov. 21 Istvan Danosi Open Tournament at Wayne State University.
The freshman mechanical engineering student is the first member of the UToledo Fencing Club to place in a tournament since 2017-18.
Eight clubs and universities, with members whose national rankings ranged from unranked to A, competed in the tournament.
