World Languages and Cultures Hosting March 15 Spring Colloquium 2023

The Spring Colloquium 2023 hosted by the World Languages and Cultures Department will feature a Wednesday, March 15, discussion on China’s growing and deepening engagement in Africa and the numerous controversial debates on Chinese-African social-racial relations in the media and academia.

Zhaohui (Clytie) Tian, a fourth-year Ph.D. student in intercultural communication at University of Warwick whose main area of research is the Chinese-African relationship, will discuss how the concepts of “goals” and “time” can create tension on racial levels.

Clytie also will share success stories and discuss the implications for future practices.

Beginning at 1 p.m., this hybrid event will be held through WebEx and in person in Memorial Field House Room 2420.
