The UToledo Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning is hosting its next virtual workshop on in the Foundations of Excellence in Teaching Series on Tuesday, March 29.

In a discussion titled “Student Capacity and Growth: Worthwhile Foundations for Student Success?” Dr. Christopher Martin, an associate professor of philosophy, will explore what courses would look like if they were designed by two aims:

•  Ensuring that students believe they are capable of succeeding; and,

•  That they are helped to appreciate growth in learning and the idea that, with dedication and time, their intellectual skills can grow considerably.

The workshop will also examine how transparency in course and assignment design can promote a greater sense of belonging, and how utilizing a growth mindset and wise feedback foster a greater appreciation of intellectual growth.

The hourlong workshop begins at noon via Zoom. For more information and to attend the virtual event, go to the University Teaching Center’s webpage.
