Junior Naama Shafir and senior Melissa Goodall have been named to the 2011 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team, the league office announced Tuesday.

The 2010-11 first-team all-league honoree finished third in the conference in assists, seventh in assist/turnover ratio (1.09), 10th in scoring and 23rd in minutes played.

Shafir ranked second in Toledo annals in minutes played (1,141), tied for second in free-throws attempted (226), third in free-throws made (169), sixth in assists (188), seventh in field-goals attempted (414) and tied for 10th in points (567) in a single season.

The Lexington, Ohio, native ranked third in school history in minutes played (1,140), fifth in rejections (39) and ninth in field-goals attempted (405) in a single season.

The 11-member team is the result of voting by the faculty athletic representatives from a list of candidates with a minimum of sophomore status and a minimum 3.20 GPA who have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.

Shafir and Goodall helped the Rockets post a 29-8 overall record and a 14-2 MAC mark. UT won an outright conference regular-season title for the first time in a decade and captured the WNIT Championship, becoming the first MAC basketball program to win a national postseason title.
