Monday, May 13, is when work is scheduled to begin on the pedestrian bridge by Savage Arena, as well as the east and west parking garages.
That means these structures will be closed for parking and foot traffic.
Material delivery dates and contractors’ schedules have allowed the start dates for both projects to be pushed back, according to Doug Collins, director of grounds and transportation.
“The May 13 start date means these projects will not impact parking or pedestrian travel for commencement in the Glass Bowl May 4 and the College of Medicine and Life Sciences’ commencement in Savage Arena May 10,” Collins said.
Restoration work in the garages is scheduled to be complete around mid-July, he said.
Replacing the bridge by Savage Arena is expected to be finished about Monday, Aug. 12, according to Collins.
Some of the bridge work will necessitate temporary closing of lot 3 and its roadway east of Savage Arena for a few individual days during the project.
“We thank the campus community for their patience during these projects,” Collins said.
